Book Pick of the Week - Teen Review-

Ridiculous/Hilarious/Terrible/Cool : A Year in an American High School by Elisha Cooper - 4 ½ stars

Surprisingly, this book is a documentary of eight kids who attended Walter Payton College Preparatory High School, in downtown Chicago. The author personally followed the lives of eight kids and their activities and wrote this book. The author also drew several sketches and included dialogue and inner thoughts. This is a really cool story to follow and see how the lives of eight actual kids unfold and what it’s like to be in high school. Whether you haven’t been there yet, are already experiencing it, or are looking back on it, this is an awesome documentary to read. Each character is someone you can relate to because they are real people. Read about the soccer players, class cutters, drama stars, class presidents, and many more teens. A truly amazing story and very captivating. This is an awesome book and I couldn't believe it was really a documentary! While reading this I almost started believing that this book was misplaced into the nonfiction section instead of the realistic section!
