Katniss Everdeen lives in the city of Panem, District 12. Every year, two children from the ages of 12-18 are selected from each of the twelve districts and are set to fight each other to the death as a sort of reality show. People on the outside of the competition can “sponsor” one of the children and give money to the person they think will win. When Katniss Everdeen and the other contestant of District 12, Peeta Mellark, are in need of sponsors, they start playing on a new angle for the cameras, as if they were star-crossed lovers. But when more and more children die in the competition, it starts to narrow down to the two of them…will they kill each other when they get the chance? The Hunger Games is the incredible first book to a trilogy that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
